In 2001, after her maternity leave, Landry started her own freelance production company named in reference to the day she was born: Groundhog Day - February 2nd.

The journalist began having her written work published in magazines and other publications that same year.

As a young mother with a toddler at home, Landry also wrote, produced and directed all the patient stories for the IWK Telethon (the largest hospital for women and children in Atlantic Canada)  for the first eight years of her freelance career, from 2001-2009. It was a deeply rewarding experience which she cherishes.

Since 2001, Landry has worked with dozens of local, provincial and national businesses, agencies, non-profits and VIP individuals, performing a wide-range of creative, strategic and production work, for which she is currently available for hire:

Janice Landry writes, produces and directs production videos; this one for Saint Mary’s University, featuring Bonnie Brooks of the iconic Hudson’s Bay Company. Landry regularly works with videographer/editor Paul Darrow of Darrow Multimedia. Darrow and Landry created this piece.

Vice-Chair of Canada’s Hudson’s Bay Company, Bonnie Brooks, is featured in this second video created for Saint Mary’s University by Janice Landry and Paul Darrow. The production video was shot in Halifax and Toronto.

Janice created a special magazine series honouring her late father, Baz Landry, and all first responders. The parts were published in Halifax Magazine, between 2012 and 2013, during the lead-up to the launch of her second book, "The Sixty Second Story." The four parts were submitted by the magazine for consideration for an Atlantic Journalism Award.

This piece profiles Tony Griffin, a former Dalhousie University student from Ireland, and a former national hurling champion. Janice volunteered with the non-profit “Give to Live” before, during and after Griffin cycled across Canada to raise money for cancer research.

Dr. Ken Wilson and his wife, Denise Doucet, are Janice's friends. Dr. Wilson is now retired from the IWK. It was an honour to write this article, for Living Healthy magazine, about Ken’s leadership with Operation Smile, before he later received the Order of Canada.
